Builders of the Dream: The Education Ministry of Arlin and Beka Horton in Pensacola, Florida by Phyllis Rand
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
The book is about the founders of the college I attended. Arlin and Beka Horton have been used greatly of the Lord. The day school (K-12 Grades), college (Undergrad, Grad, seminary), camp, outreach, publishing house, radio station, TV broadcast and church) are all excellent. They do get bashed from time to time about the church not being a real church, but I believe it meets the needs both of the student body and community. The Hortons lived out their faith. The college is very strict, but it helps to build character into the lives of the students. It would be compared to the life of a military school. I learned many value lessons and life principles from the college and instructors. It is a very good school for educators. The Hortons started summer seminars for both teachers and administrators. The school is a traditional school and teaches educational students to teach in a traditional sitting. The publishing house is the biggest publisher of Christian textbooks in the world. I enjoyed reading about the lives of Arlin and beta Horton. They both are still living as I write this review. Both are approaching 90 and have given the ministry over to other leadership. I expect the ministry to continue to grow , expand, and build leaders of tomorrow! I've included below links to several of the pieces of the Hortons ministry.
