Evolving in Monkey Town: How a Girl Who Knew All the Answers Learned to Ask the Questions

Evolving in Monkey Town: How a Girl Who Knew All the Answers Learned to Ask the QuestionsEvolving in Monkey Town: How a Girl Who Knew All the Answers Learned to Ask the Questions by Rachel Held Evans
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rachel Held Evans is a gifted writer! She reminds me of Philip Yancy. If you are afraid to think then do not read her book. She grew up in a "fundamental, Bible Believing" Home. Her Dad is a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary. He teaches at a Christian University. However, Rachel started questioning her beliefs while attending a Christian College. This book details her "evolving" beliefs. Although I disagree with many of her beliefs she caused me to think hard and deep about the beliefs that I do have. She also gave me at least three or four devotional ideas for our church devotional. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is willing to take a look at your spiritual beliefs!

I think this is a good book to read no matter where you are in your path with Christ. It shows the mercy, the kindness, and the unyielding love that comes from him. The underline theme is that you are loved, that you are not alone and that I walk with you daily. I walk with you when my legs are too weak from that days battle to carry on and you carry me.
